Joe Pyfer vs. Abus Magomedov squared off in a Middleweight contest earlier tonight (Sat. Oct. 4, 2025) live on ESPN+ pay-per-view inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada in UFC 320. In a fun scrap,
Pyfer the knockout artist scored a submission victory.
After a brief feeling out process, Pyfer got the action started with a takedown attempt. Magomedov countered with a guillotine choke and then reversed the follow up clinch throw attempt, landing in top position. Magomedov landed a couple elbows before Pyfer recovered guard. When Pyfer moved to stand, Magomedov took his back and returned him to the canvas with authority.
Suddenly, Magomedov was threatening the kimura and leg scissor submission, though Pyfer survived both. From side control, Magomedov landed knees to the body. With a minute remaining, Pyfer scrambled back to his feet and continued to wrestle in the clinch. When the two broke apart, Magomedov landed a couple snappy left hands before the bell.
It was a strong opening round from the Russian athlete, but he did look a bit fatigued after five minutes of success.
Pyfer pressed hard immediately to start the second, hurting Magomedov with a heavy pair of right hands. “Bodybagz” went to work from top position, attacking with punches and then locking in an arm triangle choke. The fight appeared to be finished, but Magomedov managed to escape, giving up his back in the process. Moments later, Pyfer locked in the rear naked choke, forcing Magomedov to submit.
This was quite the tale of two rounds! Early on, Pyfer was out-slicked on the canvas and in wrestling exchanges, but Magomedov couldn’t maintain that pace. As soon as Magomedov started to fade, Pyfer lit him up on the feet and then put him in terrible positions on the canvas. It was a really smart game plan from Pyfer, as the knockout artist took advantage of his opponent’s historically questionable gas tank.
Is this the best win of his career?
Result: Pyfer defeats Magomedov via second-round submission
