The Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver room will get a boost this week with both DeVonta Smith and Makai Lemon expected to return to practice in full after weeks of dealing with hamstring injuries.
The receivers both missed the majority of training camp and preseason
games, but had been upgraded to limited for last week’s joint practices with the Patriots. It’s smart of the Eagles to not rush the pair back, but it’s also nice to get them some reps ahead of Week 1.
The team will have a hard time making final roster cuts with the WR position being pretty loaded. In addition to Smith and Lemon, the Eagles have Dontayvion Wicks, Hollywood Brown, Elijah Moore, Darius Cooper, Britain Covey, and handful of guys who could make the practice squad.
The Eagles play their final preseason game on Friday at home against the Bengals, and while Smith likely won’t play, the team will have a tough decision with Lemon, who they need to keep healthy but also really needs live game reps as a rookie.
