It’s March, so its March Madness as the NCAA Basketball Tournaments are beginning. The Notre Dame Women’s team is a 6 seed and will first face Fairfield in the first round in Columbus. There are several interesting matchups in the Fort Worth bracket for the Irish should they get past Fairfield. Outside of any possible games against ACC foes, the Irish could see a regional rival in the Ohio State Buckeyes, and Notre Dame advances to the Elite 8 for the first time in a number of years, rival UConn
could be waiting for them. The Huskies beat the Irish in January, 85-47.
But let’s not get too far ahead.
The first big step really is the Sweet Sixteen. Notre Dame has made 14 straight Sweet Sixteens in their last 14 appearances in the NCAA Tournament. Naturally, Irish fans are confident in a return to that bracket.
As a 6 seed though, it does feel a little more tricky. According to Fanduel Sportsbook, Notre Dame’s odds to make the Sweet Sixteen are YES +280 and NO -390. The odds for the Elite 8 are YES +750 and NO -1600.
So… let’s see how Hannah Hidalgo and company respond, and if they can rise to the occasion. We belive in them, and I think they belive in themsleves too after a strong end to the regular season.
NEWCOMERS
Now that the injury report is out for football, there is one less option for spring from our list, but Mylan Graham leads the way in fan confidence for a breakout spring.
