Where the hell is Adonai Mitchell? Seriously, have you seen him? His family must be worried sick! We definitely saw him through the first two weeks of the season, but he has been MIA since.
ESPN’s Rich Cimini said on the “Jets Collective” podcast that he heard Mitchell’s finger is “broken.” Head coach Aaron Glenn denied that. We’ve got a good old-fashioned western standoff.
“Well, the Jets have been pretty tight-lipped on this one, but clearly it’s not your run-of-the-mill sprained finger. I mean,
if it were a sprained finger or something of that nature, he would have been out there taped up. We all saw the giant cast on his hand,” Cimini explained. “It would not shock me if we find out that he had surgery. I have not seen him at all in the locker room. Usually you see a guy you know wandering through the locker room. I haven’t seen AD Mitchell in a couple of weeks since that injury.”
Glenn said AD Mitchell’s finger got caught in a jersey. I’m not a doctor or anything, but did it get amputated? Caught in a meat slicer? Did he slam it in a car door? I mean, good lord!
He hasn’t practiced in the first two practices ahead of the Cleveland Browns game, which means he’s likely out another week. However, next week the door opens. The Jets didn’t place him on injured reserve before Week 3. The thought process has to be that they expected him back before four weeks, which would be next week.
Something to monitor. For now, the Jets will have to try to figure it out on offense without him *shoulder shrug*.
