The intrigue, and the crazy speculation, around what the New York Giants will do in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft continues to mount.
Todd McShay of The Ringer has gone from being convinced that the Giants were on linebacker Sonny Styles at No. 5, to thinking they didn’t want Styles and were targeting wide receiver Jordyn Tyson, to now believing Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love could be the pick.
How did we get here?
McShay said he now has “STRONG indications” — the caps are his from his subscriber-only newsletter
— that the Tennessee Titans will select a defensive player at No. 4. Styles, David Bailey, and Arvell Reese are now considered the likely targets for Tennessee.
That means that if the Arizona Cardinals don’t select Love at No. 3, or a team does not move up to take him, Love will be available to the Giants at No. 5.
McShay wrote:
I’m hearing that there’s more interest in him inside the building than people thought a handful of days ago. If the Giants take Love at no. 5, though, it means they probably won’t get the guy they really like in Tyson.
McShay is not the only one connecting dots between Love and the Giants.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said:
There are people in the Giants building holding out hope for this scenario. Would be hard to pass him up there.
ESPN Giants beat writer Jordan Ranaan added this:
Been saying it for months. If Jeremiyah Love is there at 5, can’t see John Harbaugh and the Giants passing on the draft’s top skill position player and playmaker.
It does seem like the end game for Harbaugh and Schoen might be a player to build their defense around AND the best playmaker they can get to help Jaxson Dart and the offense.
There seems to be a good chance the Giants could get Downs at No. 10, but little chance they would get Love or Tyson in that spot.
