The New Orleans Saints will close out their 2025 season on the road this Sunday afternoon against the Atlanta Falcons in Mersades-Benz Stadium.
It all started back on November 26, 1967, when the Saints defeated the Falcons 27-24 in Tulane Stadium. It was the Falcons’ second season and the Saints’ inaugural season in the NFL.
This will be 113th time (including 1 postseason matchup) that these two franchises will have faced one another with the Atlanta leading the series 57-56.
While there have been many
memorable matchups between these two rivals, the most infamous game was played on Monday, September 25th, 2006, dubbed “Domecoming,” which was the Saints first home game played in the Superdome after Hurricane Katrina. In that historic game, we saw Saints safety Steve Gleason famously block a punt by Falcons’ kicker Michael Koenen with DB Curtis Deloatch recovering the ball in the Falcons’ end zone for a touchdown. New Orleans went on to win 23-3 and at that time, the game became the highest-rated program in ESPN’s history.
The Saints will head this game with a 6-10 record and on a 4-game winning streak to face a 7-9 Falcons team who just defeated the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football.
Kickoff is at 12:00 pm and the game will be broadcast on FOX with Adam Amin (play-by-play), Drew Brees (color analyst) and Kristina Pink (sideline)
