The third weekend of the 2026 NFL season is here!
Let’s run through a Philadelphia Eagles-focused rooting guide for all of the Week 3 games.
EAGLES GAME
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES at CHICAGO BEARS: The Eagles are favored to beat the Caleb Williams-less Bears. If they can manage to avoid losing to a backup quarterback, they’ll be 3-0. Go Birds.
NFC EAST
TENNESSEE TITANS at NEW YORK GIANTS: The Giants’ 2026 campaign is probably cooked now that Jaxson Dart is out for the season. The Eagles could like to see them pick up some meaningless
wins so that New York doesn’t get a very high pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. But the G-Men have an easy schedule coming up and it could be preferable for them to not get any sense of building momentum with Jameis Winston filling in at quarterback. Root for the Titans.
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS at WASHINGTON COMMANDERS: The Commanders’ outlook isn’t looking so great. They’re the worst kind of 0-2 you can possibly be with two division losses already. And Jayden Daniels is expected to miss multiple games due to injury. But in the off-chance he comes back and this team builds some momentum, better for them to be in a bigger hole to try to dig out of. Even if it means Seattle picks up a win that helps the Eagles as it relates to pursuing a top seed in the conference. Though that’s a nice silver lining to a Commanders upset here. Root for the Seahawks.
BALTIMORE RAVENS at DALLAS COWBOYS: Given that this is the floating AFC opponent for the Cowboys, this is their least meaningful game this season in terms of impact on the standings. From a narrative perspective, Dallas will be feeling good about themselves with a win. Let’s hope that they’re instead feeling terrible after Lamar Jackson torches that defense to drop the Cowboys to 1-2. Root for the Ravens.
If the Eagles win on Monday night and all of their division rivals lose, the NFC East standings will look like this:
1) Eagles: 3-0
2) Giants: 1-2
3) Cowboys: 1-2
4) Commanders: 0-3
Opportunity for the Eagles to have a nice little cushion entering Week 4.
NFC PLAYOFF PICTURE
CAROLINA PANTHERS at CLEVELAND BROWNS: AFC team over NFC team. Root for the Browns.
NEW YORK JETS at DETROIT LIONS: AFC team over NFC team. Root for the Jets.
ARIZONA CARDINALS at SAN FRANCISCO 49eRS: Hard to say which team is the bigger threat in the conference. Just kidding. Root for the Cardinals.
MINNESOTA VIKINGS at TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS: The Bucs winning the NFC South could be preferable to the Panthers or Saints taking the crown. Also need to see the Vikings drop some games at some point. Root for the Buccaneers.
LAS VEGAS RAIDERS at NEW ORLEANS SAINTS: AFC team over NFC team. Root for the Raiders.
LOS ANGELES RAMS at DENVER BRONCOS: The Eagles play the Rams in Week 4. LA still looms large as a threat in the conference, so, it would be good to see them lose here. Put more simply: AFC team over NFC team. Root for the Broncos.
WHAT’S LEFT
CINCINNATI BENGALS at PITTSBURGH STEELERS: The Eagles play the Steelers later this season. With the hope that the Eagles will beat them, you want the Steelers to have as good of a record as possible to help boost Philly’s strength of victory tiebreaker. Root for the Steelers.
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS at JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS: The Eagles play the Jags this season. With the hope that the Eagles will beat them, you want the Jags to have as good of a record as possible to help boost Philly’s strength of victory tiebreaker. Also, the Eagles own the more favorable of two 2027 fifth-round picks either from the Pats or Bears. Might as well root against New England. Root for the Jaguars.
LOS ANGELES CHARGERS at BUFFALO BILLS: No Eagles impact. If you’re rooting for Jalen Hurts to win MVP, you’ll want Josh Allen to cool off from his red hot start in a loss to the Bolts.
HOUSTON TEXANS at INDIANAPOLIS COLTS: No Eagles impact. Both of these AFC South teams are off to 0-2 starts. The Birds will face each of them later this season.
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS at MIAMI DOLPHINS: No Eagles impact. Though it’s easier to root against the Chiefs.
