Newcastle United legendary striker Alan Shearer has cast doubt over Anthony Gordon’s chances of succeeding at Bayern Munich, pretty much urging him to reconsider any potential move to the German giants as speculation around a potential summer transfer keeps gaining traction.
The former Magpie made his stance clear when discussing Bayern’s forward line ahead of their Champions League clash with PSG, which has been one of the most productive in Europe this season.
“He wouldn’t get in this team,” Shearer
said.
Shearer’s comments come amid growing links between Gordon and the Bundesliga side, who already boast a ridiculous frontline featuring Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Luis Díaz, none of whom is going to leave the XI even with Gordon in tow.
Reports indicate that initial contact has taken place between Bayern and Gordon, with the club having presented a five-year deal to the player.
For Gordon, the decision may ultimately come down to whether he’d prefer to keep racking up starts and minutes in the Premier League or just play at the highest of levels, even if that’s getting brief second-half cameos on a steady basis.
