Nick Woltemade looks set to remain at Newcastle United this season after reports dismissed the fake claims that the Magpies had given the striker permission to seek a loan move.
Speculation over the German international’s future intensified in recent days following reports that Newcastle was prepared to let the 24-year-old leave after an inconsistent first season on Tyneside.
However, according to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, sporting director Ross Wilson has no intention of allowing Woltemade
to depart, either permanently or on loan.
“Nick Woltemade has not been given permission by Newcastle to leave the club. Ross Wilson has no plans to sell or loan out Woltemade,” Planttenberg reported. “He’s a big fan of the striker. #NUFC
“His agent Danny Bachmann has confirmed to me that the reports originated from fake accounts. Woltemade’s plan is to stay. He has set himself high targets for the season and is fully fit.”
Woltemade is also understood to have no desire to leave St. James’ Park. He is happy at Newcastle and has set ambitious goals for the upcoming season as he looks to establish himself under Eddie Howe.
The striker returned to training with Newcastle on Monday after representing Germany at the World Cup and shortly before he revealed where he believes he can make the biggest impact in Tyneside, hinting at major changes in Eddie Howe’s tactics heading into next season if the club wants to retain him.
“Preferably in a two-striker system or behind the striker,” Woltemade said during a conversation with former Germany forward Thomas Müller. “It’s better for me to play with a lot of freedom and when I have someone around me.”
