Newcastle United’s summer recruiting has leaned heavily toward adding young players with significant upside, and another highly rated teenager has now emerged on the club’s radar.
According to AfricaFoot’s Kokou Alfred Zikpi, Newcastle is closely monitoring Paris Saint-Germain wonderkid Ibrahim Mbaye, with Chelsea and Aston Villa also tracking the 18-year-old Senegal international.
“The right winger, who came through the Paris Saint-Germain academy, is being closely monitored by Newcastle, Chelsea,
and Aston Villa,” Zikpi reported. “His speed, his ability to create chances, and his long-term potential make him a highly sought-after prospect.”
Mbaye remains under contract with PSG through June 2028, giving the French champion a strong negotiating position. AfricaFoot cites a Transfermarkt valuation of €30 million (£26 million), although other reports have suggested PSG could seek significantly more if it decides to sanction a permanent departure.
“The young Senegalese player remains under contract with PSG until June 30, 2028,” Zikpi reported. “His value is estimated at €30 million by Transfermarkt, demonstrating the importance placed on his potential.”
If the Magpies want Mbaye, they would face substantial competition. AfricaFoot also names Borussia Dortmund among Mbaye’s admirers, while previous reports have linked Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and several Bundesliga clubs with the winger.
“The Senegalese player is also reportedly on Borussia Dortmund’s radar, according to exclusive information from Africafoot,” Zikpi reported.
At the end of the day, Mbaye’s situation at PSG could ultimately create an opening. The teenager wants increased playing time, and his representatives are considering options away from Paris amid heavy competition for minutes on the PSG forward line.
There is no indication from AfricaFoot that Newcastle has submitted an offer or opened formal negotiations, meaning the Magpies appear to remain at the monitoring stage, if interested at all.
Would you explore a deal around €30 million (£26 million) for Mbaye given his potential, or should Newcastle focus exclusively on players ready to start immediately and with more experience? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
