Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany suffered a scare over the weekend when he collapsed and had to be flown to the hospital. The club has since confirmed that he is in stable condition and is being given ample time to rest and recover. As such, assistant coach Aaron Danks took charge of the team today and oversaw a determined 3-1 win against SC Freiburg. Following the game, sporting director Max Eberl offered an update on how Kompany was doing.
“He’s on the road to recovery. He is stable; he no
longer has headaches, and he has undergone further examinations, which are going well. None of us has spoken to him on the phone, and I don’t know whether anyone has messaged him. But we’re simply leaving him in peace. We’re leaving him alone so he can calmly wait for the diagnosis and then find out what needs to be done,” said Eberl (as captured via @iMiaSanMia). “There’s no diagnosis yet. Nothing final, at least. And if you ask me now, I wouldn’t communicate it here. But honestly, I think these games and the wins are the best medicine for him.”
Fans must be glad to hear that he is doing well and that the team managed a strong win despite his absence. Kompany should have all the time he needs to make a complete recovery.
