Maryland men’s soccer has been a defensive powerhouse in 2025, with two of its cornerstones earning Player of the Week honors in the conference.
Laurin Mack won the Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week after finishing with no goals allowed and eight saves across matches against No. 13 Rutgers and Ohio State.
Tristen Rose was named Defensive Player of the Week after recording an assist in each match. His touch against Ohio State allowed midfielder Joseph Umberto Picotto to score after just 46 seconds — the Terps’ first time scoring in the opening minute of a match since 2011.
Maryland has conceded just seven goals through twelve games. Powered by that defense, the undefeated Terps have moved to No. 4 in the country in the United Soccer Coaches Poll and are the top team in the Big Ten.
Maryland is next in action against No. 14 Indiana at Ludwig Field Friday. The game will begin at 8 p.m., with 20-year anniversary celebrations of the 2005 championship-winning team set to take place.
