San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama has been ruled out for the remainder of the Game 2 of the Spurs’ playoff game against the Portland Trail Blazers with a head injury. Wembanyama has entered the NBA’s concussion protocol, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.
Wembanyama left the game at the 8:57 mark of the second quarter following a foul call on Jrue Holiday. Upon falling, his head made direct contact with the floor, and appeared dazed after the collision. Wembanyama has been vital to the Spurs’
success this series. He exited the game with five points, four rebounds, and a block in 12 minutes. In game one, he posted 35 points and 5 rebounds on 5-6 shooting from three.
It is so far unknown if Wembanyama will return for game three on Friday, April 24th or any of the games beyond. Concussion protocols are notoriously variable.
We will update this story as news develops.
