It was not the kind of outing we were expecting, but the Nittany Lions ground out a win, off a 24-point second half performance. Here are your takeaways.
1) Bend but don’t suck
Bend but don’t break certainly was put to the test in this contest. While the defense came through when it mattered, the Florida International Offense got basically everything it wanted between the 20s.
2) Why hello there, Devonte
While Trebor Peña and Kyron Hudson stole the show a week ago, it was Devonte Ross in this one. He finished with 3 catches for 61 yards and a touchdown
after it was all said and done.
3) Fourth down stops
Penn State missed a number of fourth down conversions from short distance. It’s all practice time right now, but those plays will need to be sharper if they want to execute them against the better opponents on the schedule. The last thing you want is to leave points on the table when you’re playing Oregon.
