The Kentucky Wildcats are only a few weeks away from kicking off the season with Big Blue Madness, marking the start of the 2025-26 season for Mark Pope’s squad.
With plenty of new faces around Lexington, one of the most important players added this offseason is Pittsburgh transfer point guard Jaland Lowe. It is no secret that for this team to reach its full potential, Lowe will need to be great to help lead this talented group.
We have heard great things about Lowe from Coach Pope, and now we can
add teammate Otega Oweh to the list.
Oweh joined the Field of 68 as they took in practice on Tuesday and had this to say about the UK point guard when asked who has been standing out to this point in the year.
“If I’m being honest, I would say Jaland Lowe (has been a pleasant surprise). He’s a point guard. He’s gonna go out there and lead the team. Last year, he had things that he wanted to improve on, which were defense and his toughness, but he’s come here and he’s just dominated in terms of his physicality, being aggressive. He’s winning one-on-one drills, although I haven’t been out there to take that away from him. He’s really surprised me. I feel like he’s really gonna do a good job leading this team.”
Sounds like Oweh has a lot of faith in Lowe heading into the season. Add in that confidence with the expected play of Oweh, and Kentucky will likely have one of the top backcourts in the country.
