After two weeks of unclear reports surrounding the health of Seattle Seahawks starting quarterback Sam Darnold, it was confirmed that he is not only alive and well but well enough to return to practice.
The Seahawks starter was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday, marking the first time since he went down with a glute injury in Week 1 that Darnold has practiced. Whether Darnold returns for Week 3 may not be a question of his health, but how careful the Seahawks want to be with him. The team
has weathered the storm thanks to Drew Lock and is set to face an 0-2 Washington Commanders team that will be without their starting quarterback Jayden Daniels.
Both Darnold and rookie running back Jadarian Price, who is rehabbing a chest injury, were seen in full pads at the practice, giving positive indications that the Seahawks could have their backfield at full strength soon.
On the positive side of news, Nick Emmanwori was a full participant in practice. The Seahawks do-it-all safety returned in an extremely limited capacity in Week 2, playing only nine snaps and recording one tackle against the Arizona Cardinals.
Another Seahawks safety finds himself on the other end of the spectrum as Ty Okada was once again held out of practice with a hamstring injury. Okada has missed the first two games of the season with the injury, and that trend looks like it may continue into the third week.
Seahawks defensive tackle Brandon Pili was the only other player who did not practice. Pili is working through a concussion he suffered early in Seattle’s game in Arizona last week.
Other notable listings include Seahawks’ linebacker Ernest Jones, who makes his first appearance on a weekly injury report with a neck injury, and Cooper Kupp, who was limited in practice with a back injury for the second week in a row.
