Fans need bye weeks, too. I hope you all were able to settle in and eat some cheeseburgers. Or, did the reverse happen as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish didn’t play and dropped a spot in the rankings? Either way, the bye week happened. I still wanted to highlight a couple of general overreactions I saw online in regard to the general college football landscape and what we saw on Saturday. Let’s take a look.
Overreactions I Saw Online Even During the Bye Week
Holy Homerism, Batman. There is a lot here. I understand being a shill and one to spin zone for your team (conference?), but we have to look at the fact that an SEC team hasn’t won a national championship in a few years. Maybe this person is right – the rest of the country hasn’t been playing the same sport because they (well really mostly the Big 10 over the last few years) have been the ones actually winning championships. Also – even during a Bye Week it was reiterated yet again that conferences are silly
Not really an overreaction, but an interesting topic of discussion. OF COURSE we saw BYU falter in a letdown spot. I saw this take and thought of it myself after BYU lost to UCF. But then I saw some folks bring up that this could limit the Big 12’s number of teams in the CFP. But then I don’t really know why I even begin the discourse because to me it comes down to winning out and beating Miami anyway or else everything else is moot. You all get my cheeseburger-induced stream of consciousness thoughts here this week.
Wow, ok, so it is time to get back on the horse of an actual game week again. Go Irish.
