10 games in a row?! The Braves’ offense is on fire, with an even dependable defense that has been holding these teams to short upsets in this final stretch of the regular season.
With just four games left
before it’s time to bow out and watch the postseason center stage take its course, let’s look at how the other teams surrounding the Braves are doing, as their winnings have dropped their odds once more (4.54%).
Pirates 4, Reds 2
Box Score | Savant | Condensed Game
The Pirates have started their road trip on a high note, beating the wild-card racing Reds in Cincinnati. All four runs were scored in the second inning with Nick Yorke kicking it off with an RBI single, Alexander Canaio following shortly after with a double and an electric homer from Oneil Cruz to secure the status.
It ultimately became a warm welcome for the left-handed pitcher rookie and No. 4 prospect Hunter Barco’s anticipated debut on the mound for the team, after just being announced the day prior.
He entered the sixth to replace Dauri Moreta to collect his outs before his exit in the seventh. Good things were seen from the rookie, as is usually the case with their pitching staff; however, the worry comes, as usual, with run support. With a win streak of three, the Pirates’ odds are now sitting at 22.27%.
Twins 4, Rangers 1
Box Score | Savant | Condensed Game
Welp, the Twins have eliminated the Rangers from any hopes of a playoff run by giving them their eighth straight loss in Texas. Byron Buxton started things off to tie (1-1) with the Rangers through a force-out to bring second-baseman Kody Clemens in, and a leadoff single from Clemens in the sixth inched them closer to their victory, following yet another grounded force-out from Austin Martin to drive in Brooks Lee for that final run (4-1).
Minnesota pitcher Zebby Matthew put on quite a show, pitching deep into seven innings and only allowing one run with a total of six strikeouts, also sending home 11 of the last 12 batters he faced. Now with a win streak of two, the Twins are looking at 16.81% for their odds in this draft lottery.
Athletics 5, Astros 1
Box Score | Savant | Condensed Game
Athletics delivered the Astros’ fourth straight loss in their homestand, only allowing three hits, one run and two walks off of pitcher Jeffery Springs through five innings. The three relievers who came in sealed the deal by keeping their opponent hitless as well. The heart just wasn’t in this one for Houston, as they’ve now bowed out from playoff contention.
Starting with Nick Kurtz scoring the first run off a pitching error to Brent Rooker, the Athletics were just warming up as they would later go on to rack up a few more runs ‘til the eighth to close the deal. Delivering two runs on the board himself for the Athletics, Jacob Wilson has been nothing short of an asset for the team throughout this year, with sights on finishing this season off strong.
The Athletics’ odds are placed at 9.24%, just slightly under the Twins.
Marlins 6, Phillies 5
Box Score | Savant | Condensed Game
A leadoff homer from the Phillies’ homer-happy Kyle Schwarber didn’t stop the Miami Marlins from answering back…even if it wasn’t until the top of the eighth when they did. The Marlins remained scoreless with Philadelphia up by three runs before Griffin Conine finally went yard in the eighth to put the team back in the game. Liam Hicks followed up soon after with an RBI single to bring in Otto Lopez for that second run, decreasing the Phillies’ lead by one (3-2).
Going into extras to extend their chances, the Marlins went on to score three more unanswered runs in the ninth and tenth before the Phillies would respond with two more of their own to tie it up in the bottom of the tenth (5-5). A sac-fly from Xavier Edwards was enough to close out the series opener in Philly to bring in Connor Norby.
Returning from the IL, Edward Cabrera pitched through four innings, allowing three runs and five hits, though he recorded his three total strikeouts out of his final seven batters faced. The Marlins are currently sitting pretty low in the lottery race, mustering up only a 2.35% for their odds.
Orioles 6, Rays 0
Box Score | Savant | Condensed Game
Last but not least, in Baltimore, after a rainy hour delay, the Orioles’ Dean Kremer pitched through 6.1 innings, only allowing one hit through his scoreless campaign. And for the offense, they wasted no time getting on the board and remaining the only ones to do so after a sac-fly from Gunnar Henderson to run in Jackson Holiday led it off, he would go on later to collect an RBI single to bring in Cody Mayo in the third.
A two-run homer from Colton Crowser in the sixth was what closed the game out three innings before the game ended. Surprisingly, Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman didn’t get the results he was looking for in his return from the IL after going 0-for-4 in his plate appearances.
There are a few more chances to end on a high note in this last home series of the season. Currently, the Orioles are sitting right under the Athletics in the lottery race with 6.55%.
It appears all of the teams we’re keeping an eye out for have found success Tuesday night, as everyone is looking ahead to the start of the 2026 season already, but it doesn’t mean they won’t give something for their fans to root for.
The Braves are looking like the team that fans knew they were and were hoping to see at the beginning of the season. Although it might be too late to go on a hot streak now to work for the appearance of the ultimate destination, the World Series, this might be a nice preview of what’s to come for next season, and how they can build from there.
