The Pittsburgh Steelers have made a medley of moves throughout this offseason, making a notable trade for the third consecutive offseason. After trading for Justin Fields in 2024 and the trio of DK Metcalf, Jonnu Smith, and Jalen Ramsey in 2025, Pittsburgh acquired wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr this past March.
Even with the Pittman trade and list of notable free agent signings, the Steelers have proven that they can make a move at any time. With that in mind, Alan Saunders of Steelers Now suggests
Pittsburgh makes a trade for Miami Dolphins linebacker Jordyn Brooks.
“Khan has shown zero hesitation to pull the trigger if a big move is available to him, so don’t rule out any scenario, just because it looks like the Steelers depth chart might be sufficiently stocked at that spot,” Saunders writes. “Trade for Miami linebacker Jordyn Brooks. The Dolphins aren’t going anywhere, and Brooks has one season remaining on his contract. He was an All-Pro and led the NFL in tackles last season and at 28, ought to be ready to cash in one last time. Does he want to spend it playing for a moribund team that has already traded most of its best players? The Steelers could bring him in and give him a contract extension right now.”
Brooks was a First-Team All-Pro selection in 2025 after leading the NFL with 183 tackles. Patrick Queen is entering the final year of his deal, and it feels highly unlikely that he returns in 2027. Should the Steelers want to include him in a trade, similar to how they sent Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Dolphins as part of the Ramsey trade last June, they would get an upgrade at the position while getting something in return for a player who is likely on his way out next offseason anyway.
Or, they could decide to hold onto both Queen and Brooks and have a high-end linebacker duo while rotating in the likes of Payton Wilson and Cole Holcomb. Regardless, it would be a move that would make the Steelers better.
