Four games, four wins, and 36 runs scored. The offenses came alive in the Dodgers minor league system in a near-perfect night.
Player of the day
Some kind of run-scoring machine this season with 57 of them in just 63 games, Eduardo Quintero was the bow and not the arrow this time around, driving in five of the Loons’ dozen runs in a win with a 3-for-5 performance, crushing the TinCaps.
Quintero, who before the start of the week had only homered three times this season, has now left the yard in back-to-back games for the first
time in 2026. His seven total bases were the highest mark he’s had since late April.
Triple-A Oklahoma City
Because Landon Knack covered just 2.2 innings, the win was left for Christian Romero, his sixth on the season, as the Comets proved the better team with runners in scoring position to beat the Space Cowboys 6-2. Both teams homered twice, with the Comets’ long balls coming from Zach Ehrhard in the first and Ryan Ward in the fifth inning.
While the Comets finished the game 4 for 7 with runners in scoring position, the Space Cowboys didn’t record a hit in the same number of at-bats, scoring both of their runs on solo shots off Romero.
Double-A Tulsa
With the bottom three in the batting order combining to secure over half of the team’s 13 hits, the Drillers avoided defeat with a run in the ninth to win it an inning later, beating the Wind Surge 11-8. Mike Sirota managed to be as productive as a hitter can be with a golden sombrero, still reaching base three times with a pair of walks and a hit.
Responsible for two of the Drillers’ three extra-base hits, both of them doubles, Taylor Young accumulated four RBI with a terrific performance. The Drillers also had their way on the basepaths, stealing five bases and not getting caught once, Josue De Paula moving to 21 SB on the year.
High-A Great Lakes
Home runs were hit, runs were scored, a dozen to be precise, but the highlight of this matchup between the Loons and TinCaps was a three-inning save from Isaac Ayon, his first of the year—Ayon was nearly flawless to help wrap up a 12-2 win for the Great Lakes, following Zach Root’s seven-strikeout and no-walk quality start.
Surprisingly, despite scoring 12 runs, the only Loons hitter who crossed the plate multiple times was Charles Davalan, four total, with him responsible for one of the team’s three home runs, the other two coming from Eduardo Quintero and Emil Morales. Quintero had a team-high five runs driven in.
As if the gap in production wasn’t high enough between these two teams in this particular game, the TinCaps gave the Loons a hand with a disturbing five errors that ultimately only led to two unearned runs.
Single-A Ontario
Four different batters had three-hit performances as the Tower Buzzers overcame having allowed at least a run in each of the first three innings to beat the Grizzlies 7-4. Those four runs could’ve been a whole lot worse, but Ontario was as good as it could be to get out of trouble, holding their opponents to a 1-for-19 performance with runners in scoring position. Right-hander Will Gagnon, who has walked 29 batters in 32 innings, earned his third win of the season with 2.2 scoreless innings in relief.
Among the top-performing hitters, it is no surprise to see Easton Shelton’s name involved. The young first baseman went 3 for 4 with a pair of RBI, and even stole a bag, now carrying an OPS above 1.000. Ontario’s go-ahead hit came in the fifth, when Mairoshendrick Martinus hit a two-run shot to make it 5-4, his only knock of the game and the Tower Buzzers’ sole homer.
Transactions
The OKC Comets activated outfielder Ryan Ward and also saw righty Wyatt Mills get called up to the bigs. Second baseman Taylor Young was assigned to the Tulsa Drillers. Shortstop Jose Izarra was assigned to the Great Lakes Loons. The Tower Buzzers placed righty Ricardo Montero on the IL.
