Barcelona are reportedly looking for a loan move for Guille Fernandez for next season but have high hopes for the midfielder and will renew his contract before he leaves.
Fernandez is currently with Hansi Flick’s squad for pre-season and Barcelona said to be impressed with his development and current trajectory, according to Diario Sport.
The problem is that competition for places in midfield in the first team is intense at present, meaning Fernandez is unlikely to see any game time if he were to be
promoted right now.
Barcelona are therefore thinking about renewing his contract, to show their faith in the youngster, and then finding a loan where Guille can continue to develop and gain some senior experience.
Fernandez only turned 18 last month and the hope at Barcelona is that he can go on and become an important player in the future.
Premier League clubs and Bundesliga sides were interested in signing Fernandez permanently in the winter transfer window but a move failed to materialise. A summer transfer now looks a possibility but Barca are only thinking about a loan.
