For the second consecutive week, a member of the Minnesota Vikings has been recognized for his play in what’s commonly referred to as the “third phase” of the NFL game.
Myles Price has been recognized as the NFC’s Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 3 of the 2026 NFL season. This comes on the heels of Isaiah Rodgers receiving the same award last week.
Price had 132 kick return yards and 106 punt return yards in the Vikings’ 23-16 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium
on Sunday, with the big blow coming on his 86-yard punt return for a touchdown in the first quarter. The score snapped a drought that spanned a decade for the Vikings, as it was the team’s first punt return for a score since Marcus Sherels got one against the Houston Texans in Week 5 of the 2016 season at U.S. Bank Stadium. It’s the only punt return touchdown in the NFL through the first three weeks of the season.
The 238 return yards by Price are also the most by a player in a game in Vikings’ franchise history, and the most by any player in the NFL since Nyhiem Hines had 241 in Week 18 of the 2023 season.
Through the first three weeks of this NFL season, Price leads the NFL in the following categories:
- Punt return yards (130)
- Punt return touchdowns (1)
- Yards per punt return (21.7)
- Kickoff return yards (353)
- All-purpose yards (483)
This is the 20th time the Vikings have won a weekly player award in the Kevin O’Connell era, including the seventh Special Teams Player of the Week Award. This is also the third time in that stretch that the Vikings have gotten back-to-back weekly player awards. They also accomplished the feat in Weeks 15 and 16 of the 2022 season (Kirk Cousins on offense and Greg Joseph on special teams) and Weeks 6 and 7 of the 2023 season (Jordan Hicks and Camryn Bynum, both on defense).
