Well, that escalated quickly. David Ornstein is capping off what has been an extremely weird day in Tottenham Hotspur-land by reporting that Spurs have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign central defender Tosin Adarabioyo on a permanent deal, and a separate deal to bring on Mykhailo Mudryk on loan.
Presumably this means that Austrian defender Kevin Danso is now free to move to Sunderland on a permanent deal. Adarabioyo is now set to complete a medical, and the deal will likely be confirmed in short order. Notably there are no financials attached for either this deal or the Danso deal, and we also don’t know if there’s a purchase option or obligation for the Mudryk loan.
It’s all very up in the air with few details confirmed and I don’t like ANY of it. It makes no damn sense for us to spend money on a 4th/5th CB that will be a confirmed backup and likely won’t get that many minutes this season. And I’ve already ranted on the Mudryk loan which I absolutely hate and think that anyone who even contemplated this should be fired.
God. What a day. I hate it here.
