After a disappointing loss in Nashville on Tuesday night, the Carolina Hurricanes (12-3-2) traveled to New York to take on the Islanders (7-5-2) tonight at UBS Arena. Game time is 7 PM Eastern.
The Hurricanes still have one of the best records in the league. They have the best goal differential of +24 in the NHL.
They are led by Sebastian Aho, who has 21 points in his 17 games. Jackson Blake is next with 17 points, along with a team high 13 assists. Blake has a seven game point streak on the line.
Logan Stankoven leads the team with 10 goals. He has 16 points.
Goalie, Pyotr Kochetkov had his 10 game winning streak busted on Tuesday. Many feel that Brandon Bussi will make a return between the pipes tonight.
Another player who might hit the ice tonight is Taylor Hall. Brind’Amour said that the forward was close to making a return on Tuesday.
The Canes did not have a morning skate this morning so any lineup projections will be unofficial until closer to game time.
Andrei Svechnikov – Sebastian Aho – William Carrier
Nikolaj Ehlers – Logan Stankoven – Jackson Blake
Jordan Martinook – Mark Jankowski – Seth Jarvis
Eric Robinson – Jesperi Kotkaniemi – Nicolas Deslauriers
(Taylor Hall should slot in here somewhere)
Jaccob Slavin – Jalen Chatfield
K’Andre Miller – Sean Walker
Shayne Gostisbehere – Juuso Valimaki
Brandon Bussi
Pyotr Kochetkov
The Islanders had an optional skate this morning. Lineups were not announced but their starting goalie was confirmed by coach Peter DeBoer. Semyon Varlamov will be in net for the home team.
Look for their lines to be something like the following.
Simon Holmstrom – Bo Horvat – Kyle Palmieri
Emil Heineman – Brayden Schenn – Victor Eklund
Ondrej Palat – JG Pageau – Anthony Duclair
Kyle MacLean – Casey Cizikas – Mitchell Chaffee
Logan Stanley – Matthew Schaefer
Adam Pelech – Tony DeAngelo
Matthew Kessel – Scott Mayfield

The Islanders will be wearing their (fishsticks) home remix jersey tonight so the Hurricanes will wear their reds.
This game is on ESPN+/Hulu, so you will not find it on your normal Prime Video connection. You can listen to Mike and Tripp via streaming on 99.9 The Fan.
