The Tampa Bay Buccaneers jumped out to an early 13-0 lead, but the Seahawks were able to score a touchdown just before halftime to enter the break down 13-7. After receiving the kickoff to open the second half, Seattle marched down the field and took the lead, 14-13, less than two minutes into the second half.
The third quarter saw alternating touchdowns, with Tampa taking a 28-21 lead into the final stanza. Two Sam Darnold touchdown passes had the Seahawks up 35-28 with 3:18 on the clock. Then the wheels fell off.
The Bucs marched down the field in 68 seconds to score a touchdown to tie the game with 1:15 on the clock, then Seattle threw a deflected interception with 53 seconds left. Getting the ball at the Seahawks’ 35, Tampa put themselves in position for a game-winning field goal late and converted as time expired for the 38-35 win.
