Kofi is calling his shots in AEW. After a successful singles debut on Collision (Oct. 3, 2026), Kofi will challenge for the world title at Grand Slam France. Ahem… For the ROH World Championship that is.
Kofi put in work to defeat ROH Pure champion Lee Moriarty. Taigastyle flexed submissions on Kofi and clowned him on rope-breaks. Moriarty had a chip on his shoulder as the best Pure wrestler in the world. Kofi kept cool and styled with high-flying. In the end, Kofi blocked a lariat to transition for
a spinning head kick en route to victory.
Even though that was a non-title bout against Moriarty, Kofi proved himself with an eye on more gold. The AEW trios champion called out a familiar opponent. Swerve Strickland & New Level recently beat Hangman Page & Brodido to retain the AEW World Trios Championship. Kofi wants to keep that momentum rolling, so he challenged Bandido for the ROH World Championship.
AEW made that title bout official for Grand Slam France in Paris on Tuesday, October 6.
This is interesting matchmaking. Kofi is on a hot streak, and it is believable that AEW would choose to keep him rolling as the new ROH World Champion. On the other hand, Bandido has carried the gold for 546 days and counting. The masked man doesn’t miss when the ROH world title is on the line.
