A free agent stopped by Gillette Stadium amid roster cutdowns.
The New England Patriots hosted linebacker Luke Masterson on a visit Sunday, according to the NFL transaction wire.
Masterson, 27, went undrafted in 2022 and spent the past three seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders. Beginning his AFC West stay under former head coach Josh McDaniels, the Wake Forest product stands 37 games and 10 starts into his NFL career.
Across 627 snaps on defense and 727 snaps on special teams, Masterson has totaled 103
tackles along with two forced fumbles, one quarterback hit and one pass deflection.
The 6-foot-1, 220-pound linebacker was placed on injured reserve due to a knee injury last October. Not receiving a qualifying offer as a restricted free agent, his contract with the Raiders expired in March.
In Foxborough, the Patriots currently sit with 76 active players. After making 14 cuts to begin the weekend, including linebackers Monty Rice and R.J. Moten, the organization waived guard Layden Robinson with the injury designation.
The NFL’s 53-man roster deadline is set to arrive Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET. Waiver claims and the formation of 16-man practice squads around the league will follow shortly after 12 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
