Two recruiting stories of interest: first, Duke may be making progress with Joaquim Boumtje-Boumtje.
This story suggests Duke may have emerged as the frontrunner, and in fact, for what it’s worth, the Blue Devils have picked up three crystal balls.
At just 16, it’s possible that Boumtje-Boumtje could reclassify, and if he does, he will likely spend two years in college due to the NBA’s age requirement.
UNC has picked up commitments from three big men for next season: FAU’s 6-9 Maxim Logue, Northwestern’s
7-0 redshirt freshman Cade Bennerman, and 6-11 Sayon Keita, a native of Mali who is currently playing for FC Barcelona.
Duke will have 6-11 Patrick Ngongba and 6-11 Cameron Williams, along with 7-1 Maxime Meyer.
On to the second story.
Kon Knueppel made a huge impression in Durham and is just coming off of a brilliant rookie season with the Charlotte Hornets. There are four more Knueppels at home in Milwaukee, and the oldest is Kager.
And Kager has been making quite an impression lately.
After some eye-opening AAU play, Knueppel is getting lots of attention, and now Duke has offered.
He’ll get a lot more offers before it’s all said and done, but it’s really cool that the Blue Devils are excited. As we said when Knueppel’s freshman year ended: four more kids!
