In the 2025 Ballon d’Or voting, Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise finished in 30th place. He only earned four total votes, three from Austria and one from Cameroon. By comparison, Olise’s fellow countryman, Ousmane Dembélé, earned 1,380 points en route to winning the award. Ironically, Olise’s 43 goal contributions nearly mirrored 2nd-place finisher, Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal with 46 goal contributions. Additionally, Olise played 1,238 less minutes than Yamal.
During the 2025/26 campaign, Olise has already
achieved a milestone that is unmatched by every player in England, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain.
10 & 13 – Michael Olise is the only player from Europe’s top 5 leagues to reach double figures in both goals (10) and assists (13) in this league season – after 18 Bundesliga matchdays, this had previously only been achieved by Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho in 2019/20 (10G, 10A) since 2004/05. All-rounder.
Ironically, Olise’s biggest competition in the 2025/26 Ballon d’Or race should be the Golden Boot leader, Bayern’s very own Harry Kane. Kane has 21 goals in 18 Bundesliga appearances, plus another seven goals in the Champions League. Any Bayern player will likely need to win the Champions League or the World Cup to truly compete for the prestigious yet biased award.
