Barcelona sporting director Deco has offered an update on Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s injury after the goalkeeper dropped out of the Spanish Super Cup squad after picking up a problem in training .
Ter Stegen has returned to the club for further tests, with Diego Kochen taking his place in the squad, and Deco spoke before kick-off against Athletic Club about the current situation.
“Ter Stegen felt a bad sensation in his knee during Tuesday’s training session. When you’re coming back from an injury, it’s
normal to be a little worried,” he told the media.
“That’s why he went to Barcelona, but after being examined by the doctor who operated on him, it’s been ruled out that he has anything serious.”
The news will be a relief to all involved, although Ter Stegen’s future at the club remains in some doubt.
There’s been talk of a move to Girona in the January transfer window, with Ter Stegen knowing he’s unlikely to see much game time if he stays at Barcelona for the rest of the campaign.
