The Cincinnati Reds have a verfiable slugger waiting in the wings in young Sal Stewart.
The 21 year old former 1st round draftee blasted his way through AA with the Chattanooga Lookouts only to be promoted at the All-Star break to AAA. With the Louisville Bats, he’s only mashed harder,
posting a 1.052 OPS with 9 homers in just 33 games since his promotion.
Given just how poor the overall Cincinnati offense has been of late – their team wRC+ is the second worst of any ball club in the month of August – it’s enough to wonder why Sal hasn’t gotten the call to the big leagues yet. That said, with the roster expansion that’s coming on September 1st, there’s a good chance we’ll see him up then if the Reds are too shy to call him up beforehand.
The question is, though, where he’ll play.
You tell us! If the Reds get the guts to promote their best hitting prospect for this playoff chase, where exactly should he play?
Vote in the poll below, and stay tuned for the results later in the week!
