Joan Laporta has hit out at Dro Fernandez’s agent over his surprise exit from the club in the winter transfer window.
Fernandez chose to leave the club and join Paris Saint-Germain after becoming frustrated by his situation at Barcelona under Hansi Flick.
Laporta has been asked about the situation and did not hold back when it came to the youngster’s agent.
“Dro’s departure was a real betrayal. I feel bad because I felt betrayed by Ivan de la Pena (his agent),” he told Jijantes.
“What happened to Dro
was a betrayal, if it happened with Jorge Mendes it would not have happened as it has happened with Ivan de la Pena. It has been a shame and a backstabbing
“With the relationship of the PSG president we have made a market relationship, with more money, to maintain cordial relations with Barça and I thank him for that.
“I felt bad for Hansi. He gave him first-team dynamics to the detriment of players who deserved it more because they had Barça more interorized.
“He is a representative because of his Barça career, he had a special relationship and I thought it was a stab in the back.”
Fernandez has said the decision to move was “one of the hardest” of his life, while Barca are reportedly set to increase the release clauses of some of their most talented yougnsters in a bid to prevent a repeat.
