Bryan Zaragoza’s time at Bayern Munich appears to be coming to an end.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Zaragoza will join Espanyol on an initial loan deal, with the structure of the transfer being influenced by Financial Fair Play considerations. The agreement will include an €8 million purchase option that can become mandatory if certain conditions are met, most notably based on the number of appearances Zaragoza makes this season.
The move would give Bayern Munich another opportunity to finally move on
from a player who has struggled to establish himself since arriving from Granada. Zaragoza has spent the last several seasons on loan, with previous spells at Osasuna, Celta Vigo, and AS Roma failing to result in a permanent breakthrough.
For Bayern Munich, the potential €8 million fee is not a massive return on the investment made for Zaragoza, but getting his salary off the books and creating a path toward a permanent transfer could still be viewed positively.
For Zaragoza, Espanyol represents another chance to rebuild his career in La Liga. If he can stay healthy, find consistent playing time, and meet the appearance requirements, the loan could ultimately become a permanent move.
