The New York Jets will be activating rookie wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. from the injured reserve list for this Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots. They will also be elevating linebacker Jaden Keller from the practice squad.
Omar Cooper is a 6’ 0”, 200 pound receiver out of Indiana University. He was drafted by the Jets with the 30th overall pick in the 1st round of the 2026 NFL draft. Cooper has had a bit of a rough start to his NFL career. In training camp Cooper briefly fell behind
Isaiah Williams to the fourth receiver on the depth chart. That didn’t last long, and Cooper entered the season as the WR3 behind Garrett Wilson and Adonai Mitchell. It took only five NFL snaps for Cooper to make a splash, as he pinballed his way to a spectacular 30 yard catch and run on the Jets’ first drive of the 2026 season. It was an electrifying start to Cooper’s NFL career. Unfortunately, that was the last snap Cooper would see until the upcoming game against the New England Patriots. Cooper was injured on the play and was immediately removed from the game. He was placed on the injured reserve list and has spent the last four games there. On Sunday Cooper will try to pick up where he left off and give the Jets a boost in the passing game. With Adonai Mitchell out for this game Cooper will be a welcome sight on the field.
Jaden Keller is a 23 year old, 6’ 3”, 235 pound linebacker out of Virginia Tech. He went undrafted in 2026 and the Jets signed him as an undrafted free agent before releasing him prior to the start of the regular season and adding him to the practice squad. Keller made his NFL debut two weeks ago when the Jets elevated him from the practice squad. In two games with the Jets Keller has played 39 snaps, all on special teams, and recorded one tackle. Sunday will mark Keller’s third elevation from the practice squad this season. Teams are limited to elevating any player three times in any given season. After this game if the Jets wish to activate Keller on Sundays they will need to sign him to the 53 man roster.
