Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman will run it back for the third time, but this bout takes place out of the octagon and into the boxing ring.
Most Valuable Promotions announced that Silva vs. Weidman 3 will open the main card on the Jake Paul vs. Tank Davis boxing event on Nov. 14 at Kaseya Center in Miami. The main card streams exclusively on Netflix.
The trilogy bout between Silva and Weidman is set for six rounds in the heavyweight division, although the weight limit is 205 pounds.
“I am super excited
to embark on another battle against Chris,” Silva said in a release. “We have a history and on Friday, Nov. 14, live only on Netflix, we’re putting another stamp on our chapter together. It will be a spectacle for the fans!”
“I’m undefeated in boxing and it’s gonna stay that way on Friday, Nov. 14, live on Netflix,” Weidman said. “I’m the original spider killer.”
Weidman defeated Silva in the first meeting to capture the UFC middleweight title at UFC 162 in July 2013 in a shocking result, and went on to win the rematch via injury TKO five months later at UFC 168. After two more title defenses, “All-American” was stopped by Luke Rockhold to lose the title at UFC 194 in December 2015. The 41-year-old went 3-8 over his final 11 UFC bouts, and announced his retirement from MMA following a decision loss to Eryk Anders at UFC 310 this past December.
Silva, widely regarded as the greatest middleweight fighter of all-time, has transitioned to the boxing world after calling it a career in MMA following a knockout loss to Uriah Hall on October 2020. “The Spider” defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. via split decision in June 2021, before knocking out fellow former UFC champ Tito Ortiz in 81 seconds three months later. The 50-year-old’s highest profile boxing match took place in October 2022, losing a unanimous decision to Paul.
