The Washington Commanders hosted the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday, and were defeated 29-18. That loss dropped them to 4-11 for the season, with two games left to play. With Washington out of playoff contention, fan focus has turned to next year’s draft, and where the team will be picking next April. The Commanders were projected to have the No. 8 overall pick entering Week 16, but dropped one spot to No. 7 with their loss to the Eagles yesterday. The Saints and the Bengals both won today which
ensured that Washington would stay in the better draft position.
The Commanders last two games are against the Dallas Cowboys at home, and another game against the Eagles in Philly. They have already opened as underdogs against the Cowboys, and now have another injured QB with Marcus Mariota dealing with multiple injuries. If Washington loses their final two games, they could move up even further, depending on what happens with the teams ahead of them.

The Washington Commanders currently have six picks in next year’s draft, and could be picking up a 6th-round compensatory pick. Washington traded two of their picks from this year’s draft to the Houston Texans for LT Laremy Tunsil. Those second- and fourth-round picks will be a lot higher than Adam Peters expected when he made the trade following Washington’s 12-5 season that ended in the NFC Championship Game. There will be opportunities to trade down to acquire more picks, and player trades could also be an option before or during the draft.
