After a dominant win against the Duke Blue Devils, the Illinois Fighting Illini come in at No. 9 in the AP Poll, their highest ranking since 2001.
Just as if the hype for the 2025 season wasn’t at an all time high, it raises to another level.
The Illini are also riding a six game winning streak, dating back to the end of the 2024 season, which is tied with Ohio State for the longest win streak in the country.
Thanks to a (closer than it
should have been) Clemson win over Troy, the Illini were able to leapfrong their way into the top 10, jumping over the Tigers and South Carolina.
Illinois is one of four Big Ten teams in the top ten, and one of six Big Ten teams ranked overall in the poll.
Following a couple late night losses, the Big Ten’s overall record stands at 31-5.
No. 9 Illinois takes on Western Michigan on Saturday night at 6 p.m..
