The Green Bay Packers received a Christmas present from the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday when they defeated the Detroit Lions. The lions’ loss clinched a playoff spot for the Packers, but we’re not done by a long shot.
NFC North standings
The Packers are still playing for the NFC North division title over the last two weeks of the season. A loss by the Packers and Chicago clinches. If the Bears win, they can also clinch. Green Bay plays on Saturday, so they should be playing like the division is on the line, especially
beacaus the Bears are playing a very motivated San Francisco 49ers team on Sunday night.
- Chicago Bears (11-4)
- Green Bay Packers (9-5-1)
- Minnesota Vikings (8-8)
- Detroit Lions (8-8)
Updated NFC playoff picture
The Packers have clinched a playoff but they can move into more favorable seeding with some help. The Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers sit ahead of them, and the Packers can’t pass them this weekend, but with a few scenarios, Green Bay can climb into sixth or fifth.
1. Seattle Seahawks (12-3) – x
2. Chicago Bears (44-1) – x
3. Philadelphia Eagles (10-5) – x
4. Carolina Panthers (8-7)
5. San Francisco 49ers (11-4) – x
6. Los Angles Rams (11-4) – x
7. Green Bay Packers (9-5-1) – x
11. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-8)
x – clinched a playoff spot
The only playoff spot still up for grabs is in the NFC South. One team will be the champs and the other will be out between the Carolina Panthers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
