One of the biggest questions this offseason surrounding the San Francisco 49ers is whether they try to re-sign wide receiver Jauan Jennings. Spotrac’s market projection of $22 million for Jennings is a sign that the Niners will look elsewhere.
If you were of the mindset that Jennings wouldn’t receive that much on the open market, Pro Football Focus recently ranked the top 50 free agents and projected their contracts.
Former 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel ranked 23rd, while Jennings was 25th. Would
anybody have believed you if you told them this time last year that Jennings would make more in free agency than Deebo?
PFF’s contract projection for Samuel is a two-year, $32 million deal with $20 million guaranteed, comparing his potential deal to what the Seattle Seahawks gave Cooper Kupp this past offseason. Meanwhile, Jennings deal is slated to come in around $50 million over three years, with $29.5 million guaranteed. That contract comp mirrors wide receiver Michael Gallup from 2022:
49ers general manager John Lynch said the team would “love” to re-sign Jennings, who served as the team’s top wide receiver for the second straight season in 2025. The 28-year-old’s 83.1 PFF overall grade in 2024 made him a top-15 wide receiver. This year, his 18 contested catches in the regular season were a top-four figure among wide receivers.
Contract projection: Three years, $50,000,001 | $29,500,000 guaranteed
That is a contract in which the Niners let Jennings walk and recoup a compensatory pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. What would be a reasonable number for you to want Jennings back, if you do at all?
