This week, the Green Bay Packers have a great opportunity to get their record back to even and find a bit of offensive identity. The 1-2 Packers face an Tampa Bay Buccaneers squad that is already 0-3 and is missing starting quarterback Baker Mayfield with a thumb injury.
That’s why the Packers were installed as early favorites for this week’s game, and the 3.5-point line in their favor (via FanDuel Sportsbook) has held up all week long. Meanwhile, the books see a low-scoring game coming, with the total
points line set at just 38.5.
Only once last season did a Packers game have a lower line than that. It happened in Week 18, when the Packers sat almost all of their starters in a meaningless game against the Minnesota Vikings and the line was set at 36.5. The previous week’s game against the Ravens in Week 17 matched the 38.5-point spread, while every other game last season was in the 40s. Even in 2024, only one game had a lower expected total: Malik Willis’ second start in relief of an injured Jordan Love had a 37.5 point total, but the Packers ended up beating the Tennessee Titans 30-14.
What will happen this week? Here are APC’s predictions for Sunday’s game.
