The Pittsburgh Steelers came away with a win over the New York Jets in Week 1, but it didn’t come without some blemishes, specifically on the offensive line.
Aaron Rodgers was sacked four times, three of which were credited to left tackle Broderick Jones. The four-time MVP was asked about his left tackle and made sure to let him and the media know he has faith in the Georgia product.
“I really like Brod,” Rodgers said via Alan Saunders of Steelers Now. “I’ve gotten to know him during training camp.
I like what he’s about. I like his attitude. He’s a genuinely positive guy. I’ve got a lot of confidence in him watching my back.”
Rodgers coming to the defense of his young left tackle is certainly a positive thing, and should help Jones’ confidence knowing that his quarterback will go to bat for him, even after a less-than-stellar performance. The Steelers will need Jones to bounce back in Week 2, as the Seattle Seahawks have one of the best defensive fronts in football.
