Former Kentucky Basketball guard Travis Perry is entering the transfer portal after one season at Ole Miss, according to Joe Tipton of On3.
The all-time leading scorer in Kentucky high school hoops, Perry was originally a 4-star prospect in the class of 2024 who signed with the Wildcats. In 31 games (four starts) during his one year in Lexington, the 6-foot-1, 188-pound Lyon County product averaged 2.7 points on 31.3% shooting (32.1% on 3-pointers) in 9.8 minutes per game.
After the season, Perry went
portaling in hopes of finding a bigger role elsewhere. He ultimately landed one at Ole Miss under head coach Chris Beard, who recruited Perry heavily out of high school.
This past season, Perry appeared in 35 games (16 starts), averaging 5.3 points on 34.3% shooting (35.3% on 3.9 3-point attempts per outing), 1.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. He racked up 16 points, six rebounds, and two assists in an SEC Tournament win over Georgia.
Could we see Kentucky look to bring Perry back to Lexington? While Mark Pope may be open to it as a reserve, Perry will likely look at smaller schools with bigger roles available.
Will be an interesting portal recruitment to watch.
