The Dallas Cowboys disappointing 2026 season continues after the 23-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 6. The offense could never get anything going and defensively things continue to look bad. This team is performing well below expectations this year, and sadly, that could just be who they are. Only time will tell.
This Week 6 matchup with the Packers was yet another example that talent doesn’t always equate to success. The Cowboys were outcoached and outplayed Sunday night, which is starting
to become a reoccurring theme. This game was chock-full with more bad and ugly than good, but there’s still a chance to turn things around. Right!?
THE GOOD – NFC East division still wide open
Depending on the outcome of tonight’s game between the Washington Commanders and San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football, it’s looking as if the entire NFC East division will lose this week. That puts the Giants still first in the division at 3-2-1 with the Cowboys and Eagles right behind them at 2-4.
This division is still wide open and up for grabs. There’s still a lot of football to play, but the Cowboys playoff hopes are still somehow alive despite how poorly they played. Maybe they can still turn this around and get on a hot streak at the right time.
THE BAD – Christian Parker’s defense
The Cowboys defense was victimized yet again Sunday night by Packers QB Jordan Love and Company, despite being much more aggressive than we’ve seen from them at any other point this season, Dallas’ defense still couldn’t make the plays needed to get off the field, especially on third down.
Anytime Green Bay needed to convert on third at any distance, they seemed to do so easily to extend the drives. All we can do is hope that the return of Cobie Durant and Jalen Thompson to the lineup will help, otherwise this could be a problem the rest of the season.
THE UGLY – Dak Prescott and Company
For the second week in a row the Cowboys offense couldn’t get anything going on the ground or through the air. The Packers defense, much like Tampa Bay’s last week, continuously blitzed/applied pressure throughout the game making things difficult for Dak Prescott to find any of his weapons in the passing game.
Brian Schottenheimer deserves some blame as well. His questionable playcalling isn’t helping things either. He didn’t adjust to the Packers pressure making No. 4 pretty much a fixed target. This is unacceptable considering the talent they have.
