C.J. Uzomah announced he is retiring from the NFL as a Cincinnati Bengal on his social media today.
That ends a 10-year career that began with the Bengals, then saw Uzomah sign with the New York Jets, and finally finish with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024.
The tight end will be best remembered for his vocal leadership during the Bengals’ 2021 season, which culminated in a Super Bowl appearance. He finished that regular season with 49 receptions, 493 yards, and five touchdowns, all career highs, leading
to his desirability in free agency and a move to New York.
But Cincinnati will clearly always be home for Uzomah, who posted as much along with a heartwarming video on Twitter (X).
His post reads:

History has a way of repeating itself and there’s no place I’d want to formally announce my retirement, than the place that started it all for me and gave me my chance. The place where we won a playoff game for the first time since before I was born, and went on an odds defying run to the Super Bowl. A place I’ve met people who have become like brothers to me.
