What is the story about?

- The UW Athletic Department released its financial reports for the 2027 budgeting cycle and the messaging is a mixed bag. While the department shows continued revenue growth, it projects another shortfall against expenses for the coming fiscal year. UW took on financial risk when it joined the Big 10 at a portion of the full media rights allotment. Pat Chun and his staff have made it work so far, but it reinforces the importance of getting up to a full share after the five year transition period.
- UW Women’s Sports won the Big 10 Women’s Championship Series, an award given to the school with the most success across all sports. These meta-sport awards tend not to get much of a following, likely because whatever entertainment and satisfaction we got from the teams’ success was already celebrated as it happened (I am not more excited about Women’s Basketball in the NCAA Tournament now that I know it helped win points for the Championship Series). Still, it’s a good reminder that Women’s Sports at UW are in a great place.
- Christian Caple’s latest Say Who, Say Pod episode goes deeper on the post Caple made about the most important non-QB players on the UW Football roster for the ‘26 season. They also dive into the public embarrassment that was the Big 12 Media Day and the ongoing fight between Texas Tech and the world.
- With the Transfer Portal closed and spring practices in the books, Chris Fetters looks at the outgoing UW offensive transfers to see how they are settling into their new environs.
