The Atlanta Braves have made a roster move on the off day before tomorrow’s game with the Detroit Tigers
Well, I thought this might be coming. Aaron Bummer has been transferred from the 10-day Injured List onto the 60-day Injured List. Aaron held the lowest FIP of any Braves reliever
with more than 21 innings pitched with 2.91. The Braves reliever with the best FIP through 20+ innings is Tyler Kinley. Bummer had a 3.06 ERA/2.91 FIP/ 3.71 xFIP and was largely the only Braves pitcher not plagued with giving up the long ball. He did have a .315 BABIP though, because screw 2025. But we’ve seen him throw his last pitch of this season. His contract runs through 2026, so assuming he is healthy then we’ll see him next season.
Taking the empty 40-man roster spot is Brett Wisely, who was claimed from the San Francisco Giants. He has been immediately optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett. Wisely is a glove-first utility player, but infielder by trade. He has a career 11 outs above average over a career through 1000+ innings. He’s played mainly middle infield, but also corner infield, outfield, and one inning at pitcher. He owns a .217 AVG/ .263 OBP/ .324 SLG line and a 64 wRC+ through 457 plate appearances. That sound you hear is Luke Williams gulping.
