 
Going into Friday night’s regular season home finale at Yurcak field has a lot riding on the line for Rutgers men’s soccer. The Scarlet Knights hold a very impressive (6-1) record on their home turf. Meanwhile Michigan St has only one win on the road vs their interstate and big ten conference rival Michigan. Rutgers has a (3-4-1) conference record compared to the (2-4-2) conference record of their conference counterpart in Michigan State. As the Spartans will look to play spoiler on Halloween night.
Head coach Jim McElderry and his staff have done a terrific job in making this team a contender for the Big 10 conference title this season. The team previously holding a spot in the top 25 at #13 before they lost in in their last home match vs another ranked team a few weeks ago in the Washington Huskies who were ranked # 21. Further proves how far along the program has come in recent years which has been a major surprise to every fan that has paid attention for years now and they are really making Rutgers fans proud this season. Also the fans have shown up to Yurcak in droves to watch the team excel in the best way possible. The team will most certainly make the Big Ten conference tournament since they will most certainly finish in the top 6 of the conference. It is all possible due to the effort of the senior goaltender who actually was starting in net for the 2021 Big Ten championship team in Ciaran Dalton. Also the scoring has been led by Joschi Shelb with 7 goals and Andrew Kitch who has 3 goals both key transfer portal additions who have eligibility remaining for next season as well.
