NJ/NY Gotham FC forward Katie Stengel has signed a contract extension through the end of the 2026 season, the club announced on Tuesday.
“This club has meant a lot to me, and I’m excited to continue this
journey with Gotham,” said Stengel. “We’ve set a high standard here, and I’m motivated every day to help the team compete for championships.”
The 33-year-old forward returned to Gotham this past July after spending time with English club Crystal Palace. Stengel has won the NWSL Championship with Gotham twice, in 2025 and 2023. In both campaigns, she scored crucial game-winning playoff goals. Her goal against the Kansas City Current in the 2025 quarter-finals secured Gotham’s upset win against the Shield winners. In the 2023, she scored the game winning goal against the Portland Thorns in the semi-finals.
“Katie has been a key contributor in our club’s success and brings a wealth of experience to our group,” said Yael Averbuch West, the general manager and head of soccer operations for Gotham FC. “She’s a proven competitor who understands what it takes to win in this league, and we’re excited to have her continue with us.”
33-year-old Stengel has made 55 appearances for Gotham FC in all competitions, and contributed ten goals and three assists.
Stengel has previously played for Crystal Palace, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and the Houston Dash.
