We’re down to our last week of the season here at Best Bets, and we’re
on pace to finish strong. After going 3-0 (5-1 overall) two weeks ago, we followed it up with a 2-1 (4-2) week last week. This pushes us over .500 at 28-26 for Best Bets and 57-51 for our over all picks. We’ve got three picks left in two semifinal playoff games so let’s get to it!
Best Bets
Miami (-3.5) vs. Ole Miss
These are the two surprise teams to make it all the way through to the semifinals. Miami had to upset the Aggies in College Station then shock the world by dominating Ohio State last week. This game will be strength on strength as the Miami defense faces off against the explosive Ole Miss offense. Ultimately, I think the Hurricanes defense wins that match up, especially since their offense will put up enough points against a pretty porous Rebel defense to win this game by at least four points.
Miami vs. Ole Miss (Under 51.5 points)
In following with my previous pick, I think Miami’s defense, which has been truly dominant all playoffs, is going to finally find a way to slow down the Rebels. 51.5 points is higher than I expected, I guess as a result of the Rebels scoring in bunches (again) against Georgia. I think Miami’s defense is better than the Bulldogs so I think this game hits the under fairly easily.
Oregon vs. Indiana (-3.5)
Indiana went into Eugene, Oregon in October and dominated the Ducks, winning by 10. I’m not sure why they won’t repeat the same outcome the second time around. Indiana has only gotten better and this game is on a neutral field rather than at Oregon. The Hoosiers may not win by double digits again, but I do think they’ll win by a touchdown.
