Indiana football head coach Curt Cignetti was asked about tampering in college football during an appearance on The Triple Option podcast hosted by Urban Meyer, Mark Ingram II and Rob Stone.
The question was sparked due to a recent accusation from Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney, who alleged that Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding contacted a player from the Tigers’ roster and persuaded him to enter the portal with an offer.
Cignetti responded that one of Indiana’s players was offered $1 million last
year.
“You’d be shocked at the school,” Cignetti said.
Cignetti added that players will occasionally stop by his office for such discussions and working with agents creates an additional level of difficulty in roster building and retention. Indiana has had minimal losses through the portal under Cignetti after his arrival in 2024 that featured plenty of roster turnover during the transition period.
